The best documentary ever!! A masterpiece from BBC4 that shows the reality of the American Identity.
Now - the is THE best documentary ever made - like that little description above says.
I strongly recommend this movie - there are three more episodes in the series (4 in total), all just as incredible as this one.
I am not really sure how to describe it to you, I guess you have to watch it and make up your own mind. Mind you, it is not an easy movie to sit through if the history of Freudian psychology is not your cup of tea.
Except, those very ideas of Freud have formed the basis of marketing in our current reality. These same techniques are used to sell products and elect presidents. And what about the creepy state of bliss that we all so desperately want to attain in our lives? That as well.
Consumerism is the means of getting to this ever-illusive state of bliss. Corporations are only happy to push you through the door.
Well worth the effort. After watching it, you will not view your immediate surroundings and the world at large in the same way again.
